Of Things Abominable

Definitions c/o the Internet:
  • quite disagreeable or unpleasant
  • unequivocally detestable
Having watched Rudolf the Red-Nosed Reindeer again with my toddlers, I was reminded of just how freakin' cool the Abominable Snowman is. He's fuzzy, he's white, he's got serious teeth (prior to Hermey's DIY dentistry) and he's got a decent roar in him. Plus my son thought he was funny, though his "a-bom-a-bul" made it better.

So with all that worthless context, why isn't "abominable" used more mainstream? There are plenty of things, people and events which I could describe as unpleasant or detestable, yet society seems to reserve abominable for animated yeti. Give it a try, see if you get "...you mean like the snowman?"

And the above is why I have a blog, not to extol any particular agenda, organization or system, purely to purge worthless shit from my brain and onto the Internet. Can't make this whole web-thing a collective conscience if it doesn't have some drivel in it too. Pundits would argue that it is already fat on drivel and thin on content, but whatever. Pundits are abominable.
